Gender, Sexuality, & Body Image
Dr Emily Harris is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Melbourne.
I have been leading research projects in the field of psychology for over 10 years. My topical expertise lies in gender, sexuality, and body image. I tailor my research method to the research question, using quantitative and qualitative approaches, including longitudinal, experimental, and meta-analytic methods.
I am primarily an academic researcher, working at the University of Melbourne (current), the University of Queensland (past), and Queen’s University, Canada (past). I have also enjoyed dipping my toe in industry roles, collaborating with the data science team at Tinder HQ in West Hollywood and leading statistics workshops with Relationships Australia.
Following on from my research and public engagement on the division of household labour, I am currently developing workshops for couples in conflict over the division of labour. This topic can cause lasting rifts between partners with spill-over effects for people’s work and sex lives. My program aims to heal relationships by developing effective communication, mutually agreed-upon divisions of labour, and increasing interest in intimacy and pleasure.
